Attention !Attention !Attention !Everyone, please be careful with this law firm. I received a speeding ticket and went to consult them, hoping to get some help. They charged me $500 just for a 15-minute conversation—about 10 minutes were spent chatting about my trip and other unrelated topics, and only 5 minutes were used to understand my ticket. After that, they told me that if I wanted them to fully handle the case, I would need to pay an additional $2,500. Honestly, I was so angry I could only laugh.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We respectfully disagree with the characterization of your consultation and believe it is important to clarify a few points for the benefit of future readers.

Our firm's standard consultation fee is $500. This fee is clearly and thoroughly explained before any appointment is scheduled and again during intake, specifically so there are no misunderstandings about cost or scope. In fact, for traffic citations, our staff routinely advises prospective clients to consider whether the consultation fee alone is worth it, as the fine for a ticket may sometimes be less than the cost of consulting an attorney. Many people ultimately choose to handle traffic matters themselves for that reason.

That said, some individuals nevertheless request a legal consultation —particularly when there are concerns about collateral consequences such as impacts to a commercial driver's license, insurance implications, or when a citation is issued in a remote jurisdiction, which is common in Alaska. In those situations, clients may reasonably decide that professional legal guidance is worth the expense.

During consultations, including yours, we spend substantially more than 15 minutes reviewing the citation, discussing potential legal and collateral consequences, and explaining available options. This necessarily includes understanding the surrounding circumstances, as context is often legally relevant. We also provide a detailed explanation of the work required should the firm be retained, along with the associated fee. A quote of $2,500 to handle a contested traffic matter reflects the time, responsibility, and professional obligations involved in representing a client-not merely the act of appearing in court.

Finally, we make it clear to everyone who consults with us that we are here to help regardless of whether they hire our firm. All individuals who meet with us receive guidance on next steps for their case, even if they ultimately choose to proceed on their own.

We regret that you left feeling frustrated, but we stand by our transparency, our pricing, and the value of the professional legal services we provide.
